The Thirds have home advantage as they welcome UL Bohs to Coonagh for whats sure to be a great local fixture at 7.30pm. Support for both sides is most welcome, both matches are sure to be very entertaining. For those that can’t make it – we will be offering updates for both on Twitter.
We will be running a supporters bus to the next Firsts match v Trinity on the 24/11/18. If you are interested please let me know ASAP by reply or by texting 087-9397431. The last bus trip was a great success and we are hoping to build on numbers again. The support is most appreciated by the players so please do make the effort to travel on the club bus if you are available.

Shannon 35 Young Munster19
It was a great outing for our u20s last Saturday as they lined out in Coonagh against Young Munster. Mike O’Gorman bagged a good first half try, converted by Ben Daly and both sides looked evenly matched going in at half time with a 7-7 scoreline. Shannon kicked up a gear in the second half however, with two quickfire tries from Aran Hehir and Kevin Keane. We kept the pressure on but Ben Daly dominated going over for two tries as the time ticked on – he was also in great kicking form and landed five from five of the conversions. Young Munster came back with twelve second half points of their own, but it wasn’t enough as the 20s wrapped up the game coming away 35-19 victors.
Women’s Munster League Division One
Shannon 43 Carrick-On-Suir 5
A seven try haul from the Shannon Ladies saw them amass another bonus point win on Sunday. They took to the road for a long trip away to Carrick-On-Suir but made sure to come away with maximum points form the encounter. Tries came from Rachel “Lizzy” Wallace x 2, Jess Hewett x 2, Rebecca Casey, Kate McCarthy and Roisin Willis. Orla Curtin added the remaining points. The win sees the Shannon Ladies move up to second place on the table.
Underage Round-Up
It was a busy weekend all around for our underage with nearly every side in action!
Our Underage Girls kicked things off in Grove Island on Saturday by recording a solid 29-16 win over St Marys/UL Bohs/Newport. The u14 girls also took to the pitch this weekend welcoming Gort to Coonagh. The two fixtures combined with the senior Ladies saw over 50 girls/women take to the pitch in Shannon jerseys this weekend.
On Sunday the Shannon U14s Black team came away as winners over Nenagh, the U14s Blue team also won out over Ennis with a well struck final minute penalty sealing the deal.
The U13s Blue team put on a great team display to take the spoils of their match v St Senans. A fantastic performance saw them emerge 58-0 victors.
Shannon Men Do Movember
It’s that time of year again – a few of the Shannon men will be sporting dodgy moustaches for the month of November in the hopes of raising awareness and funds for a very worthy cause.
The Movember Foundation is the leading charity changing the face of men’s health. They are addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.
Last year the Shannon guys raised €1,000 and this year they hope to beat that amount. Follow the link here to donate and to help them along!
